Products

The products that I use on grooming dogs are products that I use on my own show dogs. I have several different shampoos and conditioners depending on your pet's coat quality and different needs, as well as Chris Christensen colognes for a "smell good" finish.

MONTAJE-DISEÑOS-STOCK-DOG-GROOMING.JPG

APRIL 2020 was when I started offering grooming services to the public. I have a wide variety of experience professionally grooming different coat types and variations as well as have considerable experience in handling fractious and nervous patients. Even if your pet has not been previously exposed to the grooming world, I am more than happy to help introduce them to being groomed and pampered. The grooming needs of your pets will change as they get older and may differ through the summer, fall, and winter seasons. I am here to help recommend the best coat help for the best interest of your pet's comfort and happiness. If you have specific concerns about the skin and coat needs of your pet, any and all questions are welcome. Having extensive veterinary technician background, I can help guide you to the best of my abilities. Although I cannot give veterinary advice, I help can guide you in the right direction! I have a wonderful veterinarian that I can direct you towards and if necessary, we can help make a treatment plan together to ensure your pet is getting exactly what he or she needs both internally and externally.

Sometimes making a plan between a licensed veterinarian AND your groomer is in the best interest of your pet!

How I Started Grooming & My Experience

Becoming an Australian Shepherd owner, I had looked for my own groomer to be able to properly groom to the breed standard. After several attempts of trying different groomers, including after having my double coated breed shaved without my authorization, so I was determined to learn to groom myself and was taught from my Australian Shepherds' breeder whom also is a professional show handler. I've been grooming my own dogs ever since.

I started indulging into and building relationships in the conformation show world and accompanied other established breeders and show handlers on their journeys. Being friends with individuals dedicated to showing their canines, I started picking up on grooming and had my mentor (whom has been showing and professional grooming canines for over 30 years) to start critiquing me and aiding me along the way.

I have 10+ years background of animal husbandry and veterinary technician experience working in both large and small animal hospitals. This knowledge is transferred over to my ability to administer medications, medicated baths, basic understanding of integumentary issues, understanding of dietary intake affecting skin and coat health, and discussing possible treatments specific to your pet's overall coat and skin care with recognition of your veterinarian's recommendations.

Where Your Dog Stays

I have a stacked kennel set up using "Homey - Kennels" as well as open wire kennels where pets can comfortably wait until their humans come to pick them up. Majority of grooming patients are left to roam the house after their groom under supervision. I don't like pets feeling confined, I always want them to have a positive and comfortable experience.

Vaccinations Needed for Grooming Patients

Bordetella and Rabies are the only vaccinations I require for your canine to have. Felines need to have rabies minimally.

I recommend every pet is fully vaccinated, but not ever owner believes in preventatives, but understand you put your own pet at risk of exposure if you choose to not fully vaccinate.

I disinfect every kennel after a pet leaves it and often sweep, mop, & bleach my floors where pets have access to.

Dog Grooming Services

De-Matting

For each de-matting treatment, this includes me removing any matting or knots that your pet may have throughout his or her coat. If matting is severe enough and I cannot comfortably remove the mats from your pet's skin and coat, a 10 blade shave down will be elected.

De-matting Treatment pricing varies depending on your pet's coat type, how severe the matting is, and how long it takes me to get through the matting. It can be anywhere from an additional $20 to an additional $200+ !

Each additional hour it takes for me to safely get through your pet's matting adds $50 per hour!

De-Shedding

The de-shedding treatments are a lot of pet owner's favorite grooming additions! De-shedding includes either hand-stripping, raking, and/or combing out your pet's undercoat to remove the loose hairs or your pet's undercoat to help keep them regulate body temperature better. Stripping your pet's coat is something that needs to be done year around, not just in the Summer!

Less hair = less dog hair to clean in your house!

Hair Cut

I prefer to do cuts according to breed standard, but I will always ask during drop off time for owners to specify what kind of cut they are wanting for their pooch. I do have several owners that love the non-typical looks for their breeds.

**** Price will increase depending on the difficulty of your kitty. If your cat's tolerance runs out, I will call you and stop at what point I am at and charge for only the time and products done (not the full service). If your pet needs medical management in order to be groomed, talk to me about possibly making an appointment with a local veterinarian for sedation and then having the cat groomed while sedated. I DO NOT SEDATE ANY ANIMAL IN HOUSE. ****

Others Grooming Services

Ear Cleaning

The includes using a veterinary approved otic cleaner and cotton swabs to gently remove debris out of your pet's ears. For dogs that have excessive ear hair growth, we will either hand pluck (or use hemostats) the ear hair to insure excess hair isn't trapping foreign debris in either ear canal. Keep in mind, some breeds have to have their hair plucked from their ears on a regular basis (poodles, cocker spaniels, doodles, some goldens, etc...) ................   $15.00

Teeth Brushing

Yes, we brush our dog's teeth. The same way you or I brush our teeth daily, I can brush your pet's teeth as an addition to their groom. This will not get rid of all dental tarter, but this will help reduce plaque build up. Ask me about more teeth hygiene tips and I will happy help and lead you in the right direction! Teeth are VERY important to keep in check for your pet's health! .........................................................................................................................................  $10.00

Clipper Nail Trim

This is our standard clipper nail trim! For pets with long quicks (the blood vessel in the middle of the nail) it is recommended to get nail trims every 2 weeks to reduce the length of the quick and maintain the nails to a shorter length.................................................................................................................................................................................................  $10.00

Dremel Nail Trim

Our dremel nail trim cannot be done for every patient (depending on the patient's comfort level of this noisy tool and the vibration feeling on their nails). I am willing to work with your pet to get them comfortable with this tool! The dremel allows for nails to be softly grinded down shorter and allows a nice round finish.........................................  $15.00

Flea Bath

We do not have medicated flea baths, but we do have topical shampoo that is natural ingredients to kill external parasites (louse, fleas). This fee will be in addition to the regular bath & blow out fee for your pet......................  $25.00

*We do not offer baths that kill any sort of demodex mites or sarcoptic mange, but I can help you in the right direction!*

Coat Whitening

We LOVE this option for our white-coated pets. If you have dogs that either have white feet, collars, or a full white body, or white markings on the face, this option will help brighten the white patches and help pull out mineralization stains throughout the coat.........................................................................................................................................................   $30.00

Anal Gland Expression

I will only express your pet's anal glands if you have seen notable signs of your pet needing this done. This can include your pet licking at its hind end and scooting in the house. Majority of commercial groomers will automatically express anal glands and charge you for it. I will not voluntarily do this because being a veterinary technician, less is more! If you know your pet needs it, I will have no problem doing it! .............................................................................. $10.00

Pet Sizing Chart

For our grooming charges, majority of our services are charged by your pet's weight. Every price listed is subject to change depending on your pet's difficulty level that can alter due to basic manners and/or coat quality.

For dogs that take exceptionally longer than the allotted time expected, price will increase accordingly.

SMALL pet - 20 LBS and under

MEDIUM pet - 21 LBS to 50 LBS

LARGE pet - 51 LBS to 75 LBS

EXTRA LARGE pet - 76 LBS and up!

If you are unsure of your pet's weight classification and are inquiring to see rates for your pet, do not hesitate to message me!

For product usage, I use several different products depending on coat type and de-tangling needs. If you have questions on what products to use at home to help maintain your pet's coat in-between professional grooms, I can discuss products that can help you reach your goals.

My "IP Stock Dog Grooming" Facebook page allows clients to post pictures of their pets publicly and for them to leave reviews. I do take pictures of grooming patients and post to this site as well.

What else to know before booking

Being a veterinary technician, if I spot anything out of the ordinary about your pet, I will let you know. This does NOT mean that I think you're a bad owner and do not notice things about your own pet. This means I spotted something that I felt the need to bring to your attention due to the possibility of you not having noticed it. WE ALL DO IT! Please do not ever take offense by me catching something on your pet! This can include anything from hair loss, hot spots, rashes, hives, dental and/or gum issues, extremely dirty ears, ears that smell yeasty,  fleas and/ticks, random protrusions and/or masses, etc.

I like to send a full text explaining what was done with your pet and if anything was found.

This text will be received when I send the "Your pet is ready!" notification.

I typically have pets dropped off at the beginning of their allotted appointment time. If you have to work and have to be somewhere early, message me to accommodate specific drop off and pick up times.

Text me when you arrive for your appointment and when you arrive for pick - up to ensure I know you are there! Sometimes it is hard to hear the door when I am grooming and/or bathing another pet!

Breed Specific Estimates

All breed specific estimates listed below are based on the most popular breeds that I have come in on a regular basis for grooming in the Stephenville area. We have a wide variety of breeds in this area, so if you do not see your breed type listed here please feel free to reach out to me if you want an idea on cost for the grooming services you are inquiring for your pet.

All services are subject to increase pricing depending on the difficulty of your pet's groom, additional services added, matting, or a not-so-friendly pet that needs extra time on the grooming table to help build confidence.

Every grooming experience needs to end on a positive note for every pet.

Different breeds and coat types require different maintenance and grooming schedules. Let me know at your appointment if you want to schedule your pet out for every 6 - 12 weeks depending on your pet's needs.
